Vincenzo's Supermarket is celebrating 40 years of business at 2406 Danforth Avenue on Saturday, September 18, 2004. The Vincenzo and Saveria Masellis’s family-run business will mark the milestone by welcoming their many friends all day Saturday. Coffee and special treats for their many customers and friends will be ready by 9:00 am.

Vincenzo and Saveria Masellis opened the business on September 17, 1964. Two generations of the family work in the business—a full-service supermarket that continues to specialize in what the family knows best—Italian food. Prosciutto and sausage are made on the premises according to time-honoured recipes.

New customers quickly appreciate the breathtaking variety of products for Italian cuisine. At the deli counter there are more than 20 brands of olive oil. Discerning shoppers looking for the ingredients for a special recipe can choose from more than 100 varieties of pasta. Local customers can still count on free delivery service. Families that left the neighbourhood years ago loyally come back to Vincenzo’s to do their most important shopping.

A decade ago, there were more than half a dozen Italian markets on the Danforth in Beaches-East York. Today only Vincenzo's Supermarket and one other store remain open on the Danforth.
