Things have been busy around here for the last week or so. Jennifer flew off to Paris on Easter Monday, which is apparently soon to become a new national holiday, Victory in Vimy Day. Canada's New Government loves futile adventures in foreign lands. Apparently it means so mean so much to our allies when we go along with them. "Ready, aye. ready!" And what could be better than a national holiday celebrating mass death in the trenches of the Western Front.
Jennifer successfully landed at Charles DeGaulle International Airport. Her family was concerned about her safe arrival and asked me to see what I could find on the net about the progress of the Air Canada flight from Toronto. Not much. I did watch the graphic at the right for an hour or so until I fell asleep.
Anyway, she landed and got to her friend's place and let her anxious family know this morning by telephone. There was much rejoicing. She wanted me to thank Josh and John for their helpful advice about Paris. She said that she would e-mail them personally. She also promised to post pictures from her adventures here from time to time.
First Post from the City of Lights (April 14)
A first e-mail has been received. We're itching to report its contents. The boss is consulting with his daughter, who is a little overwhelmed with all the "attention." I don't mean to deflate any delusions of grandeur here, but anyone worried about a mass audience at this stand should check out the visitors' stats over on the left panel. This kind of reception is about standard for a Joe Briggs publicity op. We start small. Our intention is to get bigger. But usually the adulation is as eminently handleable as it appears to be this time out.
When we turned on the systems this morning there was e-mail from Jennifer. She reports: "The reason I haven't written is because I've been seeing the city. I go out all day long and come home and fall into a coma-like sleep. Since you're obviously starved for information, I'm sending you a link to my new Flickr account. Feel free to post any photos on your blog...." That seems clear enough.
The photo at the left is one of the Flickr batch and is a self-portrait taken in a broken mirror, which forms part of a pile of trash found at a not completely picturesque Parisian street corner (La Rue Jean Moinon). There are lots of other pictures of some of the more picturesque parts of Paris and we expect that there will be more to come. For anyone interested in Jennifer's Parisian explorations, there is a Google Personal Maps page that shows various suggested and actual tour stops. More anon.
Trip in the Home Stretch

As you can see in the graphic, Jennifer's flight has just now crossed Newfoundland/Labrador and is flying over Brian Mulroney's hometown of Schefferville (Open the window and spit--you won't hit anyone!). Everyone here at Wolverleigh Estates is most excited. We'll put more real pictures up soon. As this is being written the Air Canada Boeing 767-300 is cruising at 36,000 feet at about 430 MPH and headed away from the cursed ground where Muldoon was begat down the St. Lawrence to Toronto. Friends are calling to see if Jennifer his home yet.

I've forgotten how this blog is set up. I think that I closed out anonymous commenters because I didn't want forty-something RepubliKlans blogging in their parents' basements in Indiana putting their "thoughts" on my site. But Google is making this a tad harder to keep straight. Anyhow, it's far easier to use than Facebook, which Jennifer claims began life as Harvard College dateware. She made me promise not to set up a facebook of her own. She already had one and deleted it. Her claim makes sense. Mix the Ivy League with Rupert Murdoch and the result is predictable.
We're still waiting for information from Paris.
yes we are still waiting for some pictures.

Yes, Jen, Brenda actually did leave the anonymous comment above and it was mostly easy.
