Andrew Nikiforuk on the Politics of the Tar Sands

In the video above Andrew Nikiforuk, discusses Thomas Friedman's First Law of Petropolitics. Who knew that Thomas Friedman had anything interesting or useful to say? I guess that it shows how much collateral intellectual damage the Boy Emperor's Mesopotamian adventure has done. There was a time in the late Harris years when I might have thought the same way about Andrew Nikiforuk. However, it was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to hear him as the second guest on The Current this morning (Wednesday, 22 October 2008), talking about his timely new book, Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of the Continent. It made me wonder why he had not been a guest during the election campaign that wrapped up last week, during which so many Canadian voters expressed so much confusion about carbon and taxes. Maybe we're already further along the road to petrostatehood than we think.
