And what a panel it is! Peter had a panel of hand-picked experts flown in from well-known seats of area studies (Georgetown and Columbia) to help out local experts Janice Stein and Samantha Nutt with the question of what all the sound and fury from the Hermit Kingdom actually means. Sadly, none of them seems to know much. Peter did point out that the guy from Columbia has actually visited North Korea. Maybe they could have flown in an actual expert on North Korea. Bruce Cumings is the chairman of the History Department at the University of Chicago and a respected authority on North Korea. He has a short, useful article on the current dust-up that adds historical perspective on the situation in the current Nation.
