The basement windows are original equipment and date from the house’s construction in 1922. They have been repaired and repainted many times since we moved here in 1980. However, we decided that they were at the end of their useful life this summer and ordered replacement windows.
A replacement for the laundry room window (left) was ordered at Lowes and for the library room (right) at Danforth Lumber. Replacing any legacy window is always a challenge. In this case it was decided to replace the frames as well. The work went well. The frame replacement entailed some interesting work, including milling custom brick mold.
The final result was extremely pleasing.
