Hard to believe that Ann Coulter can still fill any hall

It's always dangerous to overestimate the value of open debate—particularly ones that leave little doubt about someone's foolishness. One would have thought that there would be few Canadian academic invitations to Ann Coulter after her flubbing the question of Canada's military participation in Vietnam on The Fifth Estate in January 2005. I guess there's no price too high for a certain kind of enlightenment. Spurned in Ottawa, she's getting a warm welcome in Calgary today. However, there is a Palinesque motherlode of Coulter gaffes and miscues available for anyone interested in the question. Without a doubt the best treatment of Coulter is by Al Franken at the Connecticut Forum in 2004.
