Xtranormal cartoon bots are among the most convincing pundits in the world today. We have an earlier post of the default bear characters taking apart Rob Ford’s transit “plan.” The boss’s daughter showed us two stock characters—a young female employee and her employer. She does a pretty good job of demolishing her boss’s reasons for voting Harpoplican. However, we thought that there might be other more edifying things to watch during this election cycle. The NFB has some interesting things on offer. The first thing we found was Tommy Douglas: Keeper of the Flame (1986, directed by Elise Swerhone, 57 min 47 s). You can watch the whole program here:
Some might ask why we`re offering a 25-year-old documentary about Tommy Douglas as commentary on the current federal election. The current NDP has not even elected a single federal MP in Tommy Douglas`s Saskatchewan in almost a decade. Actually, it`s a pretty good guide to the political world we have lost and well worth watching for that alone.
