“Find yourself in people city,” was one of the tunes that Moses Znaimer wanted Torontonians to hum when they thought about Hogtown thirty-five years ago. In the Miller era everyone seemed to be offering up some anodyne song that said it all about our town. Those were times when we thought we were so much superior to places like Buffalo. All those efforts seem quaint now that we have Rob Ford as our mayor; Ford family values apparently come along with him.. Buffalo should be walking proud today. Hell, now North Tonawanda seems like the Athens of antiquity in comparison with us. Yesterday’s excellent Ford-911 adventure is described here. Our mayor describes it in his own words here. This calls for a new Toronto anthem. We think Fred Eaglesmith sums up Toronto best these days.
