Joe Briggs Vacation Notes: Ski weekend 2012

This year's ski weekend menu is a little simpler than last year's, which led some observers to wonder whether this was a ski weekend or a gastronomic retreat. The Wolverleigh contribution will be a Sunday evening dinner of vegetarian lasagna, various kinds of roasted sausages from Vincenzo's and a salad. It will be preceded by a beef meal on Friday and a pork roast on Saturday. Everyone is excited by the prospect of a weekend in the outdoors at Blue Spruce and on the trails at Algonquin. You can find our picture archive of last year's weekend here. Below, there are a few video snippets from the ski trails last year.

Warm up at Blue Spruce (29 January 2011)
The various trails at Blue Spruce provide a wonderful warm-up for Algonquin. Below is a handcam-based video of the final downhill run of Haden Hop. It was more dramatic in person than it is on the video.

Day one at Fen Lake (29 January 2011)
This year marked a return to the Fen Lake trails for the first time in almost a decade. Our expedition leader Michael C. inspired everyone. This is a brief video of the start of the trip.

Day two at Leaf Lake (30 January 2011)
Our final day was a leisurely ski on one of the Leaf Lake trails

Ski conditions look pretty good for this weekend. You can see the Blue Spruce web cam here. The trail conditions at Algonquin also look good.
