The boss’s daughter graduates from OISE–UofT

Brenda and Russell were pleased as punch to be able to attend the UofT fall convocation on 12 November 2012, where Jennifer received her UofT–OISE MA (Adult Education & Community Development). The ceremony itself was not bad:

She's presenting her work at a Student Thesis Day event this afternoon (November 28) at OISE. The MA thesis (City of Libraries: The Impact of the Urban Reform Movement on the Toronto Public Library) is a fine piece of work — I did a bit of proofreading. It also turned into a topic much in the news during the brief mayoral reign of His Lardship, Rob Ford. Ford and his gunsels on the Toronto Public Library Board tried to gut many of the programs of the TPL. You may remember all the Doug Ford nonsense about there being more “liberry” (the Ford family pronunciation of “library”) branches than Tim Hortons in his ward. Jennifer made a presentation to the board at a meeting a year ago that was a show-stopper. You can find the text of the presentation here (pages 9-10).
