The poor rich and the wealthy poor

Our friend Dianne sent us the following video that graphically breaks down the ownership of the Great Republic. It was from a site called Being Liberal. Dianne adds the note, "While the politics aren't what we would like them to be, the patter is of note." All we can say is that nothing is quite the same as it used to be. If today's liberals—and Canadian Liberals—spoke the way they used to, we'd hardly recognize them. For instance, here's a favourite quotation from John Kenneth Galbraith, a quintessential liberal of yesteryear, on the socio-economic achievements of Reaganism: "We can safely abandon the doctrine of the eighties, namely that the rich were not working because they had too little money, the poor because they had too much." Maybe we could abandon that doctrine if liberals had not twisted themselves inside out in the past two decades in an absurd triangulation routine to present themselves as Reagan-like. Instead, the doctrine has stubbornly taken root everywhere in the western world.
