Windows 10? Microsoft has conveniently placed an irritating popup item on my task bar that keeps nudging me to get my free upgrade while there’s still time. So tempting.
Nobody I know has talked about it. And John Dvorak (“People know that I’m generally critical of the entire “Metro” direction Microsoft took with Windows 8. But after endless bit-twiddling, the company has nailed it with Windows 10.”) likes it? A gamer/youngster who’s been helping me out with reno work downloaded it on the first day, which he admitted was a tad impulsive. He says it all turned out fine. The bigtime organization where the boss’s daughter works is holding off. The ISSO 12000 organization where the boss’s partner works is so hopeless on tech matters these days that it’s starting to sound like a Mac shop. Hell, maybe it already is a Mac shop and they just didn’t bother to tell her; she's retiring soon anyway.
What’s a refugee from the small systems era before there were actual small systems to do? I remember Windows 95. I waited until Windows 98 and Windows 2K. Then I waited until XP was the best alternative to nothing. Experience is no guide. Windows 7 worked well when it was new. The web browser has had a few rocky innings over the years and is not up to much these days. Who knows what Microsoft is planning! They just shed 7000 employees. That should make us all feel comfortable with the product they are asking us to trust them with.
Anybody got any ideas? Advice? Experience.

Hi folks. Sign in anonymously and identify the pictures to prove you're not a robot. Thank God Google isn't designing the next OS. Its sole function would be signing in, which would take most users most of the morning. Russell
Unless, of course you have a Google account, which is much cooler than Facebunk.
This is Russell. Hey, this is just a test to see if a blogger blog can replace Facebunk. Remember to post the comment anonymously and give your name in the comment.
