JB Labour Video: NYT story on the New York Garment Industry

Who knows how the NYT pay-per-view scheme is going to work out. Apparently, you’ll be able to watch multimedia like this here for free after it kicks in. It’s an interesting sketch of the rag trade today. The clear winner in this story is a unionized firm that went after high-end work. The low-end part of the New York garment trade now relies on blue-chip staffing methods like scamming undocumented workers to work for nothing. Sounds a little bit like His Lardship* wrote the manual.
