The Wisconsin Capitol occupation and protests were inspiring. While they were on we posted a few live feeds, along with some video from the Ed Schultz Show on MSNBC. The video above is composed of more than 2000 images and gives a good sense of how big the events were. Everyone came — workers, farmers, police, firemen. The Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers, the best-paid unionized employees in Wisconsin, came out in favour of the unions. The protestors can use whatever help you can give. The boss and I used to be members of the Mobile Breakfast Unit of our local riding association until it met an untimely death at the hands of Hynd-bound naysayers.

Here’s a chance to get back at those narrow-minded skin flints. Ian’s Pizza shop in Madison that has been feeding the strikers for days. Initially, Ian’s Pizza (downtown Madison) donated some pizzas. Then donations to the shop came flooding in from all over the world. You can find the story in the NYT here. You can find a list of local businesses willing to take donations for the strikers here. Maybe it’s time to call your CUPE rep and get them to send a donation. And there are lots of other similar actions going on around the US. You can find a good clip from Saturday’s monster rally in Wisconsin here. You can also find live streams from various rallies in Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio and other states here. The Koch brothers have really seeded something viral here. Apparently support for collective bargaining rights is now a pretty solid 60% across the US.
Below is a short video on how Ian’s Pizza took in donations from all over the US and around the world to feed the protestors.
